I will say you always knew which celebrities were going to be good partners on those 70s game shows. They had this serious look about them like they either really wanted to help someone win money, or just wanted to prove they were better than the other celeb playing against them! Nice tribute, very honest and heartfelt, as always. New Year's Eve really will not be the same with Ryan Seacrest alone at the helm.

I always loved watching Dick Clark's New Year's Eve shows. It brings back so many crazy memories of bringing in the New Year with your family. Don't you think its ironic that he died in the year the Mayan Calendar is supposed to end? I was so happy how he came on TV after his stroke. That showed how much character he had even though your father and Tony loved to make fun of him. You know their sick sense of humor. What or who will they make fun of this year? P.S. Dick Clark also reminded me of Uncle Don. This year they will be rockin up in heaven! Great post as usual.

Like you, my DC memories have everything to do with watching ABS on Saturdays. I remember it started late morning and spilled over into early afternoon (was it 11:30am-1:00pm??), which always put us at a late start heading down to Main Street. But it was worth it!

I didn't know Aunt Tessie (Angela's mother) and so I did not know that she was a fan of Dick Clark's. Notice I did not say that my parents and grandparents didn't like him, just that members of their generation might not always like him. I didn't use the Quiche recipe here because I wanted to use something that I could compare to D.C. I'm saving the other recipes for the book! Yes, I think Dick Clark had a great life (Uncle Don too).

I'll have you know your great-aunt Tessie Defilipo, that's right Angela's mother, was a big fan of the Dick Clark Dance show and knew most of the regular kids by name. Until her early death she followed that show religiously. Your Uncle Don also liked Dick Clark because until Cancer ravaged Don, he never looked his age always having a great head of hair, which was always pointed out to me. The perennial youngsters, and now they are both gone but their youthful enthusiasm lives on. How come your recipes didn't include Quiche and Spaghetti Carbonara? Always a must at one of the parties on New Year's Eve. Sometimes the house felt as crowded as Times Square, well almost. I think D. C. was close to 83. A good life!
